About This Tour

Dive into the magical world of South Australia’s most iconic marine creature – the Leafy Sea Dragon.This guided scuba diving tour takes you to the pristine waters of Rapid Bay or Second Valley, where these rare and beautifully camouflaged creatures can be found drifting gracefully among the seagrass and kelp.

Under the guidance of an experienced PADI professional, you’ll learn about the biology, behavior, and conservation of the Leafy Sea Dragon, while enjoying safe, relaxed dives in their natural habitat.

Whether you’re a passionate underwater photographer, a marine life enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique dive experience, this tour offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet one of the ocean’s most enchanting residents.

Equipment Provided

  • Scuba tanks & weights
  • Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
  • Regulator with octopus and pressure gauge
  • Wetsuit (5mm or 7mm, depending on season)
  • Mask, snorkel, and fins (if requested – limited availability)
  • Dive torch (for low visibility conditions, if required)

Equipment Required

  • Personal dive mask, snorkel, and fins (recommended for best fit & comfort)
  • Dive computer (or watch & tables if preferred)
  • Underwater camera (optional – highly recommended for Leafy Sea Dragon photography)
  • Towel, swimwear, warm dry clothes for after the dive
  • Reusable water bottle

Preparation Notes

  • Arrival time: Please arrive at least 30 minutes before departure for equipment fitting, and briefing.
  • Certification: Minimum requirement PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent). Proof of certification must be shown.
  • Health requirements: All divers must complete a PADI Medical Questionnaire. A physician’s clearance is required if any conditions apply.
  • Recent diving experience: We recommend a refresher course if you haven’t dived in the past 6 months.
  • Physical fitness: Moderate level of fitness is required for shore entries and diving.
  • Weather policy: Dives are subject to weather and sea conditions – safety is always our priority. If conditions are unsuitable, we will reschedule or offer alternative arrangements.
